Situation

The client has sites, infrastructure and assets at thousands of locations in multiple countries. These sites are interconnected by a complex network infrastructure. They required a way of mapping and interrogating this information visually and drilling down to site, room, rack and frame detailed information.

Task

Graphical Data proposed the ILLUMINATOR software platform as the most suitable toolkit for realising this ambition. ILLUMINATOR easily integrates with geo-data mapping tools, and, in addition, maximises their inherent capabilities for advanced data analytics.

The system designed was able to consume and manage datasets in the ILLUMINATOR database, but also have the ability to API/Import data from other corporate database assets. And then present this information in maps, plans diagrams and dashboards.

Results

It is now possible to view current, interim and proposed connectivity and asset arrangements via powerful dashboard filter facilities. The system provides the option to interpret future requirements in context of what exists and to illuminate target data elements as required.

The client achieved a major advance in corporate planning capability, including the ability to run multi-functional what if scenario queries. Significant savings were made through enhanced Network capacity planning and the ability to auto-alert operational groups of network changes at dataset re-fresh led to more reliable handovers. Time savings were garnered from the simple use interfaces allowed the harvesting of relationship orientated datasets that were almost impossible to examine in context otherwise.
